Gm Emblem

Hey guys/gals...

 

I was wanting to put one of those small, square, chrome GM emblems on my '10 Sierra, you see them on the front doors next to the "Silverado" or "Sierra"... they were on the NBS '07,'08, and '09's but for some reason GM dropped them in '10... I think the small emblem adds something to the door, can't explain it, just looks good in my mind.

 

I have a couple of these emblems that my buddy gave me but before I put them on I want to make sure that they will look OK.... reason I ask this is because I measured the chrome Sierra emblem on my door and it is 3.1 cm high, the chrome GM emblem is 2.5 cm's....

 

My question is to the '07-'09 Sierra owners that have this GM emblem... can you measure the GM emblem and your Sierra emblem on your door? Or take a close up pic of your door where the emblems are so I can see it clearly?...Are they the same height or is the Sierra emblem a little higher.

 

I looked at almost every pic on this site but I couldn't find one that could give me a clear indication either way... I think they are slightly different in size but that could just be the angle of the pics... the Sierra emblems look taller than the Silverado emblems, the Silverado emblem and the GM emblem look to be the same size.

 

If nobody can help me I am going to have to go hunting in the parking lots with a measuring tape lol...... so please somebody help me out before I possibly get a punch in the head from another truck owner in some parking lot...

Here is the one on my Tahoe, its not at home right now (wife is out) so I cant go measure.

 

Mine is right at the same height as the letters.

Thanks Ryan for the reply... but I really need to see this on a 07-09 Sierra.... I don't think the letter height of the Tahoe is the same as the Sierra.. actually the lettering on the Tahoe looks to be the same height as the Silverado lettering...

 

I "think" the Sierra lettering is taller than the Silverado... just wanted to see if my thought holds true.... I will post a pic of a Sierra I found in the Galleries to illustrate what I think is the case.... if this is your truck and you want me to remove the pic just let me know...

I dont think the lettering is taller I think they are wider and it gives the illusion they are taller.

Judging by you sig pic dont you have the nevada edition on you door so either way the gm square logo is going to look small. IMHO I think it will look goood but it will be kinda small in comparison to the other logo..but thats just my 2 cents.

Yeah she's the Nevada Edition.. would the Sierra emblem be smaller on a '10 Sierra that isn't a Nevada? I would still like to hear from a 07-09 Sierra owner on the measurement of their door emblem lettering.... I have a hard time believing GM would change the size of the lettering from 09 to 10 but who knows... I say that they removed the GM emblem to save a few bucks... I mean even if both emblems only cost them $1, that's a $1 saved on every GM that goes that goes off the line in 2010 that had these emblems in 2009....

 

Either way I guess what I will have to do is just put a tiny piece of double sided 3m on the GM emblem and lightly "test fit" it to see how it looks.... if it looks out of place I won't use it... if it looks OK I will pop it off and put a full strip of 3M tape on it and call it done

You might be right on that... I never thought about it that way... there are 9 letters in Silverado and 6 letters in Sierra...... so maybe GM widened the Sierra letters so to look like it takes up the same door space as the Silverado....

One other thing to keep in mind.....there are two different size "GM" emblems,the smaller ones are used on cars,and larger ones are used on trucks.

LOL... yeah it is indeed a beautiful Sierra... no doubt. Do you have any other closer pics of the door... or better yet, can you quickly measure the GM emblem and the Sierra lettering on your door for me?

The ones from a car are 1" square

The ones from a truck are 1 3/16" square.
