doverarjim Posted February 25, 2010 Posted February 25, 2010 Buddy of mine has a 97 GMC Sonama with the 2.2 4 cyl. It has a coolant leak and it is not the orginal engine in truck the water neck has four bolts on it and then it has a long tube running to the back of the engine bay, with another pipe coming off of it just above the water neck. Any one know which engine this might be? I have pictures that I can email but cannot get them to post. Any help???

It could be a 2.2L out of a cavlier/sunfire if in fact it is a 2.2L
doverarjim Posted February 25, 2010 Author Posted February 25, 2010 Not 100% sure it is 2.2 but it is a 4 cyl and it gets a little better gas milage than my 2.2 auto does with its 5 speed.
Nytemare Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 try getting a part for a 95-99 cavlier 2.2L...and see if its the right part. Dont actually buy the part...just get it and look at it to see if it looks right
68haywagon Posted February 27, 2010 Posted February 27, 2010 Could you send me the pictures? I can try to find something in my store's catalog. [email protected] Mike
doverarjim Posted February 27, 2010 Author Posted February 27, 2010 Thanks Mike, I just sent them to you.
68haywagon Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 I just got home from work. I will try to find something out tomorrow. Mike
68haywagon Posted February 28, 2010 Posted February 28, 2010 Actually looking at the pictures. It looks like the water outlet on my grandfather's '00 Cavalier 2.2. It's been awhile since I did any work to it but I think that long tube is the crossover to the top radiator hose. I forgot where the other outlet goes. I will try to find out for sure. Mike Edit: not the best picture I could find but you can see the crossover tube.
