Buddy of mine has a 97 GMC Sonama with the 2.2 4 cyl. It has a coolant leak and it is not the orginal engine in truck the water neck has four bolts on it and then it has a long tube running to the back of the engine bay, with another pipe coming off of it just above the water neck. Any one know which engine this might be? I have pictures that I can email but cannot get them to post. Any help???

First off are you sure its a 2.2L...

It could be a 2.2L out of a cavlier/sunfire if in fact it is a 2.2L

Not 100% sure it is 2.2 but it is a 4 cyl and it gets a little better gas milage than my 2.2 auto does with its 5 speed.

try getting a part for a 95-99 cavlier 2.2L...and see if its the right part.

Dont actually buy the part...just get it and look at it to see if it looks right

Actually looking at the pictures. It looks like the water outlet on my grandfather's '00 Cavalier 2.2. It's been awhile since I did any work to it but I think that long tube is the crossover to the top radiator hose. I forgot where the other outlet goes.

I will try to find out for sure.

Mike

Edit: not the best picture I could find but you can see the crossover tube.

yup...if it looks like that one, than its a caviler 2.2L alright....or insert other car with 2.2L engine in place of caviler...its a car engine...not a truck engine.
