Crazy Shakeing!

Hi all,

So I finally pulled the trigger and decided to get new rims and tires because my stock Generals from the dealer were a POS and were finished and I was slideing and fishtailing in the rain. I decided on 20" XD Monster with Cooper Zeon LTZ 275/60r20's. Had them mounted yesterday and I love the way they look and love the tires but I have a problem now....When I hit the brakes the front end shakes and shivers. At low speeds it shakes a little but if im on the freeway and hit the brakes it SHAKES!! What could be the problem? Is is an alignment thing?? Any help would be great. Here is a crappy cell phone pic until I can get better ones! Thanks!

rotors warped?

I dont think so because they were fine up until last night....If that was the case shouldnt it have it done it with my stock rims also??

I noticed you have a leveling kit, did you ever get and alignment after that?

If your rotors were warped they would have done it with the stock wheels as well. I would get in to a dealer or shop with a "newer" alignment machine and make sure you are within spec, Im betting you are out. With the stock wheels you may have not noticed anything but with the larger wheels it may now bring the shake to life. While they have it up make sure and have them check the ball joints and tie rod ends

For any reason would the tire place have touched your brakes? Are all the lugs tight?

No they didnt touch the brakes....As far as I know they tightened the lugs?? I didnt have a tire fly off on the freeway this morning

Are the wheels lug centric or hub centric? If they are lug centric, thats your problem. There are factory brass clips used to hold the rotors/drums on during assembly that will cause vibration. They are not allowing the wheel to sit flush on the rotor/drum.

Remove them and you'll be fine if thats the case. If not, then I'd go back and have them rebalanced. Being out of alignment (if you were, would not cause what your describing) When my Zeons were first installed, they had a tough time getting them balanced for some reason. It took them 3 times, but once done, they were/are smooth as glass.

When I got the leveling kit put on I didnt get an alignment, but last night when they put on my new rims/tires, I had them do an alignment because I knew it was off because my stock tire had a lot of wear on one side. Sure enough it was off really badly. So the new tires are aligned as of last night.

I dont really know?? Ive read that pretty much a majority of aftermarket rims are Lug-centric?

Then pull the wheels and remove the brass clip off the wheel studs.

Ill call the guy at Wheelworks and see what he says, and Ill make this suggestion to him. They seem like they are pretty knowledgable people. They have done all of my cars and have always taken care of me.
