Add Telecoping Wheel To An 09 Sierra Denali?

Recommended Posts

I know this sounds weird, but I am really in need of getting my steering wheel to telescope back a bit. I'm 6'7" tall :( with 3 fused levels in my back and longer legs in proportion to my arms. Ok, no, I don't roam around in the forest. :tear:

Anyway, I'm sort of stuck with my right knee jammed into/against the center console unless I move my seat back further...but then I'm really reaching out to touch the steering wheel...which starts to aggravate my back. Yes, the pedals are adjusted all the way back. If the wheel telecoped back a few inches, I could move into a much more comfortable position. Why they didn't include this as a feature on a 50k+ truck I have no friggin idea! :shakehead:

I'm wondering if a swap could be done from an Escalade/Yukon wheel to my truck? I'm sure the dealer wouldn't do it for some liability reason, but I'm sure I could find a shop somewhere. The Yukons/Sclades do telescope, right?

Any thoughts would be appreciated. The wheel didn't bother me at first, but now that I'm driving the truck alot I find myself kind of uncomfortable.

Don't complain.... consider yourself lucky. Rainsense wipers are WORTHLESS!

Gee, I wonder if you'd qualify for a disability assistance from GM.

And here is the web page Click Here

Steering column extensions are included.

Great link!! I will see about that steering column extension. Don't know if I could qualify for assistance since I am still employed. I can't fly anymore (ex-airline Capt), but I still teach pilots rather than sit around collecting disability and thinking about my back all day!

Thanks again... :shakehead:

Well, I'm going to price out the Escalade swap to see what it would run. I'm sure it won't be cheap! I found an entire piece of Ebay, but it doesn't look like it telescopes? At least I'd get the heated steering wheel as part of the deal... :shakehead:

I don't think employment is a factor, just a physician's validation is required. If this is keeping you from being in your chosen/trained profession and you have a doc saying so, then you should be eligible.
