Max Tire Size On Stock Rims

Recommended Posts

Hey,

Im planning on putting a 6" or so lift on my 2008 1/2 ton sometime in the near future.

As far as tire selection, im leaning towards a 35x12.5R18 Nitto Trail Grappler M/T.

Anyone running this tire have comments on it?

Also, would a tire of that size fit with the stock 18" rims? Would the backspacing be an issue?

I was planning on doing the samething, but after doing some online reasearch and talking to a co worker who used to work at a tire shop; putting a 35" tire on a 8" wide wheel, its not recommended as far as longevity of your tire plus safety issues. It can be done, as far as backspacing issues, not to familiar with OEM wheels, but I am going to also guess its going to be based off what brand lift kit you use that will require any type of trimming. Most likely regardless of which lift you use, using stockers for your setup will require some type of trimming due to rubbing. As much as I wanted to use mine also to save money for future projects, I wind up buying aftermarket 9" wide wheels to avoid any problems.
