T-case/transmission Rebuild

Recommended Posts

My transfer case leaks and the transmission is making a bad whinding/binding noise when accelerating in 1st gear, when it shifts up to 2nd, the noise goes away. The normal whind from the 4l80E has always been there. I was just curious if anyone has had their tranny or transfer case rebuilt and what the average cost is? I was guessing around 2 grand for the both of them.

Where is the transfer case leaking from? It could be the pump rub issue. If it is, that can be fixed with some crafty use of JB Weld or just replacing the tailshaft.

I would suggest that you take a look at this thread. I had the same problem and as long as you haven't puked the T/C the fix is about $500 for the parts if you can do it yourself.

Turns out that Im leaking from the top of the Tcase. I am now thinking the whinding grinding noise Im hearing may be tcase related. Thanks for the replies hockeypro and donnie
