Locking Gas Caps: Any Luck?

Have you guys found a brand that works for your vehicle

 

I have noticed people complaining about gas, myself being one of them, after leaving a mall, etc and finding our gas tank lower by a quarter tank or more.

 

I want a locking gas tank but the vehicles we have at work have them and they had problems getting them off. As a matter of fact, actually had to bring them to the dealer to cut them off.

 

So do you know any that will fit right, create a good seal, and will come off?

Why don't you just get a screen installed in the line going from where the gas cap is to your tank? Then you don't have to worry about losing a key and it's no hassle...

A guy on a motorcycle board says he's only used stant after an incedent and has had great luck. The problem is I can't fint one on the gmdirect site nor ebay....

i too have been pondering a locking gas cap, only issue is i really don't want to deal with another key....fuel prices are climbing and people are getting cheap and greedy, i can't count on one hand how many people ask me for gas money at the pumps while their truck idles...let alone gas drive offs are growing around here so gas stealing won't be far behind...

Not sure where you were looking but all I did was google stant gas caps and there was a JC whitney add on the side, clicked it and put in year and truck model and I got this...

Gas drive offs? You mean where you pump then pay? Problem solved by paying then pumping.

Yea I don't believe there are too many if any pumps around here who let you pump before paying.

I think he's saying to prevent someone from sticking a siphon tube down into the tank through the filler neck.

 

If someone wants to siphon the gas bad enough they could probably bust right through that screen, or they'd just reach under the truck and punch a hole in the tank to drain the gas out.

I've had very good luck with my locking gas cap. It seals tightly (no CEL) and it only takes a 1/4 turn to unlock. I did have to spray some oil in it recently to lube the internals but other than that, I have no problems to report.
