Is there any benefit of a 20" wheel over a 17" wheel, besides looks?

You can clear larger brakes. That's about it.

 

Some claim that the smaller sidewall helps prevent sway when towing... i haven't towed enough to feel a difference I guess. But since most HD trucks come with 16" wheels standard i think its questionable on how much it really "helps" towing.

 

In the performance world, less sidewall helps for high speed cornering; making the car more responsive via the suspension as opposed to give in the tires. Our trucks don't really fall into this category though... you're not going to be doing any high speed cornering in a SUV or Truck...
