For the GMT900, pop the two cover off the top. Then use a small flat head and remove the two small panels to reveal the 10mm bolts. Remove them and then the perimeter of the panel will pop off when you pull on it. the panel will still be connected by the window switch and the door handle cable. use a pair of needle nose to disconnect the door handle cable and unplug the window switch. Once you do it once, you can do it reallly fast.

How do I know if it's a GMT 800 or GMT 900?

GMT-900 is the newest body style from 07.5 to 10. This forum has the freaky rule to call trucks by GMT-900 or 800, etc depending on which years. New Body Style (NBS), or New New Body Style (NNBS) are frowned upon.

Also, if you have other questions, try searching first. There have been a lot of post about speaker removal. You would have had an instant answer, without having to wait if you found a previous post. Enjoy the new ride.

Without stopping by your house :driving: i would have to say either a short or the speakers are kaput, get a test speaker and test....

You stated your truck was a "2007 new body style", thus: GMT900, or '07 NBS. I have replaced two speakers in my '07 NBS GMC already. The little wires coming from the speaker core broke. Dealer made them good, my labor. David

I had my front driver door speaker keep going off and on. I pulled the door panel twice to check for a short. Bought new speakers and I have never had another problem. I even used the factory plug so I know thats not the problem. It's something with the speaker.

Do yourself a favor and replace them.

I ordered the speakers through crutchfield. They came with plactic door mounts to put the speakers in the doors and came with wiring harnesses to plug up to the factory harness. Anything you order through them comes with the mounting hardware for free. I think I'm about to mount the speakers to mdf instead because the plastic has started to rattle.

I went with Infinity Reference 6022si in the front and Infinity Reference 6022i in the back. I choose Infinity because they are 2-ohm speakers and had great reviews.
