I didn't want to hijack the other thread, but it seems some people are complaining about noise with the extended cab models. Squeaking, Wind noise???

Is this a common issue???

Quite as a mouse..... 11 years (1999 GMC Sierra).... Blacktop driven. 3 or 4 trips a weekend on slag driveway about 4 miles but it is smooth with no pot holes and no wash-boarded road.

My 01 Silverado 2500 doesn't make noises either.

what year is your truck? my dad just bought a 2010 and he has complaints about wind noise all the time. If you open your rear extended cab doors and look down through where the bottom hinge is you can see right through there on both sides. Piss poor design and we have determined thats where the noise comes in from. hope this helps

Mine is very quite. I'm delighted with it.

could be different when it comes to gmc and chevrolet...my dads truck is a 2010 silvy

07 way quieter then my 2000

of course it goin to be quiet then the older 2000, the rubbers and doors and eevrything plays a role when the truck is older. so of course a newer truck will be quieter. like he is happy with it too BUT i was just saying that he did have a complaint, and it is a bad design in the extended cab doors and could be better and quieter.

Maybe I'm just lucky but my 08 and my 09 were both very quite. I found out the first day I had my 08 that if you didn't get the back door latched they rattled terrible. I've heard that some people had theirs adjusted so they would latch easier and have had problems since adjusting. I just learned to get them latched and check them before closing the front door and they have been fine. A very small amount of silicone grease wiped on all the seals and no rattles or squeaks of any kind. I do notice the passenger seat belt rattle when no-one is riding in passenger seat. I also had a minor rattle in dome light that nearly drove me nuts before I found it. I hate rattles and do tend to notice them when nobody else hears them at all. At interstate speeds the cab is very quite, I only hear wind when the windows are down a little. Maybe my window vent visors has something to do with blocking the noise. IDK

So big country, do you think maybe your father isn't closing his doors enough???

I know the passenger door on my 99 had be be more or less slammed to latch right... if you closed it, you would think it was closed, but if you shut the passenger front door, you'd see it bounce a little.... But even then it would look fully-closed

I also need to shut the doors pretty hard before they fully latch. The only one I had noticeable wind noise was my 99 chev. My 04 chev and current 09 GMC are very quiet.

i know about the rear doors also, indeed they are closed tightly. My dad is VERY picky when it comes to noises and what may seem quiet to you would be annoying and loud to him. But i was just giving some insight to the thread starter.

2009 extended cab 3/4 ton and the rear doors squeak and rattle like crazy. Adjustment and silicone make no difference whatsoever. Dealer I brought the truck too said it was a very common complaint to them. Beyond that the dash cap over the guages loves to squeak too. Cheap plastic interiors all have squeaks, it's life.
