Uneven Ride Height In The Front

Anyone know why my GMT 900 would sit a half inch lower on the passenger side than on the driver's side? When I bought it...it was that way but I didn't notice it at the time. Then a month ago I put a rough country leveling kit on it. The first step says to measure the wheel openings so I did and that was when I could first tell. So I installed the level kit and it did exactly what it was supposed to. It raised it 2". So it the measurements I took were 9" opening on the drivers side and an 8.5" opening on the passenger side. What gives?

i think all gmts have this problem...my 04 sat lower on the front driver side but seemed to go away with new shocks(i know i know shocks don't effect ride height) i think there was a bulletin for the gmt-800s to throw a coil spacer in there...which leads me to believe it has to do with the coil system the 900s use

Every vehicle in the world has this issue.

you cannot make production cars, mass produced, sit perfect in all 4 corners. One in a million or so do. It could be a matter of more weight on one side, a touch softer spring, or a touch harder spring on the opposite side.

There are a tonne of possibilities that can cause this.

I always thought the lean on the left was due to the driver, and gas tank located on that side...

1/2" is nothing to worry about. it could be a weaker or stronger spring at any 4 corners, how much gas is in the tank? how much air is in each tire? how level is the ground?!?! is the frame level or is the body throwing off the measurement?

the list goes on and on.

Just about every GMT 800 & GMT 900 I have seen has this problem.....

Everybody go outside with a tape measure...... Doors, rocker panels, wheel arch bumper, etc, etc,

But its just a little.... So put more air in one side and less in the other if it bugs ya...

Good call M Cueva probably has something to do with it. I know mine always has 26 gallons plus a little in it.... I know what that 6 gallon gas can feels like when I pour it in my lawn mower.....

Well that answers that question! I won't be worrying about it anymore. I will kick the perfectionist outta me now...thanks for all the replies.

I thought it was the "chevy lean". The driver side sits higher so over time it will level out? That's what I heard back when I had my S-10 Blazer.

My 2008 GMC Sierra 1500 W/T is also 1/2" higher on the driver side. Doesn't bother me, I can't see it.

Gentlemen,

My Silvy with Fab tec front end was off by one inch. I took the high spring out and cut it down 1/8 turn. Perfect. It is amazing how little you cut off to change height.

That was 60,000 miles ago.

A buddy has a 2009 F-150 and his sits 1" lower on the passengerside. As Aiden said there is noway that a vehicle will sit at perfect height at all 4 corners no matter who makes it.

Here is my experience with my 01 Silverado why it leaned over. From the back it looked like it was parked in a pot hole.

After several front end repairs by the dealer they called Detroit.

They said, the std cab, with the V6 and manual trans, needed a special spring on the drivers side to lift it up.

Why that particular model needed that, I don't know, but after tearing the front end apart a third time, it still was 1/2 inch lower on the drivers side.

I asked the dealer about and they said all cars and trucks lean.

I could not believe, GM making vehicles for 90 years, (at that time) could not make a vehicle that was level.

I think they were pulling my leg.

I sold the truck a few months later because of other problems. That truck was a lemon from the start.

Traded it for an 02 Siverado and that was a great truck.

Now I am on my 3rd Silverado and so far 3800 miles and no problems.

Sorry, did not mean to lean on ya hard..... Every car/truck that has been in my family and was a GM leaned........ A couple of the fords have but not every one. Nothing better than a slight kneel to one side.

Sometimes it bugs me when I am walking up to my truck but then I laugh and say that thing is sitting off level hahaha.. Just makes me grin and laugh to myself.
