Another 2010 Change?

I was jogging this morning and noticed a 2010 truck with the tow package. It had a small 4 prong receptacle built into the factory trailer connector to the left of the license plate. Is this a 2010 thing? My 08 does not have it, just the regular connector that you have to get an adapter for.

my 2010 2500HD doesn't have the 4 wire connector...just the 7 way like your 08........

are you sure it was a factory tow package? most of the aftermarket connectors have the 4 flat like that, I know Ford factory does (or did in 2003)

To be honest, I am not sure. It was dark, but light enough to see the 4 way connector cover and the other flip up door. It may very well have been one of the aftermarket ones that was added in place of the GM one. I will check and see when I can.

My guess is he swapped out the factory one.

Etrailer sells a duplex connector that has both a Bargman plug and a 4-wire flat connector. It's not stock, but it's nice to have. I have trailers with both types of connectors and I never had to look for the adapter when I the duplex connector.
