Gonna Lower The Truck A Little

Thinking about removing my leveling kit and taking out the rear blocks to fill in the wheel wells a little better with these rims. I just need to know if its as simple as removing the ubolts and taking out the blocks and putting the u bolts back on or is it more in depth? I know that if you do drop shackles you have to loosen the truck bed. Do you still have to do that if you just take out the stock blocks?

Also, am I gonna need an alignment in the back of the truck after taking out the blocks?

Also got a pic of the GMC logo I blacked out. no biggie just thought id throw it up incase somebody was thinkin bout doin it. Have a good weekend evrbody

For removing the rear lift blocks you don't have to loosen the truck bed, you will need smaller u-bolts or spacers. It is a very easy mod to do, I removed the rear lift blocks and installed the 2 inch drop shackles and it looks way better than stock.

So if I wanna make it level I would need to take out the rear blocks and do the 2 inch drop shackles?

Yeah, that's what I did to make my truck level.

here s what I did on my GMT900 2007... took out rear blocks and ubolts.. ordered blocks and u bolts for 04 Silverados SS.. That will lower the back to be level with the front. Took about 15 mins to do on a lift.. No alignment needed.

Whats the difference in height between the stock blocks and the silverado SS blocks? I'd like to lower the rear of my truck 1" to 1.5" max (2" will be too much for me).

Completely removing the blocks only should = 1"-1.5" (I have not done this)

Changing the shackles only will = 2"-2.5"

Removing the blocks and changing the shackles should be = 3"-4"

If your doing this on a 4wd, I can tell you that on mine by changing the shackles alone left the rear exactly 1/4" higher than the stock front height which I felt was just right. Any more would give you Cali-lean.

I wish I had a better answer and I even looked back to see if I could find my post but could not. I would guess it would lower the back from between 1.5-2.. it s right in the area and I don t remember what the SS block measured. If you forced me the guess I d say just less than 2 inches of a drop.

Would you mind snapping of picture of the SS block installed?

Reason being... i think the stock block is about 2" tall. So that's why im a bit confused as to how it drops the back 1.5-2" while still putting a block in there... unless the SS block is merely 1/2" tall and used basically to correct the pinion angle; if so, that's exactly what im going to do!

I can not get any pics as I do not own that truck anymore. Maybe it s qiucker to just see if a dealer can get you the specs on both blocks.
