Mobil 1 Syn In My 2008 Sierra 4 X 4

Just picked a 2008 Sierra ext -cab 4 x 4 with 34k. It's got the AFM, 3.73 rear, etc. I'm not too wild about the 20" rims & wheels but I'll live with them for a while. Not the off road package so no skid plates.

My question is this, since I've always run Mobil 1 in my trucks, is this a concern for the active fuel management? What do most guys run? TIA

This has been debated over and over again

Mobil 1 meets gm specs so it is acceptable.

My dealer actually said mobil 1 is the only warranty approved synthetic.

Your dealership is full of S**T

As long as the oil has the proper rating (API certified and GM Standard GM6094M) just like it says in the owners manual, they can not deny you warranty coverage.

It will give this information on the back of the oil bottle.

Only oil I know of that doesn't meet these standards...or didn't a while ago ...was Royal Purple.

And yeah...Mobil 1 is probably one of the best oils you can use in a Chevy.

Its factory fill on a lot of vehicles now.

When I was looking at some Valvoline synthetic it didnt have the gm spec on their bottle.

been using all amsoil fluids in my 08 with no problems. i know its not "certified" but it says they exceed GMs standards. and look at their reputation. Basically its brand loyalty, pretty sure any oil you put in there is gonna do what its made to do.

Both Chevy dealers I go to locally have Royal Purple displays in their parts departments. They carry the whole line of RP products.

I've been using Mobile 1 Fully Synthetic since the first oil change in my truck @ about 1000miles. I'm at about 42,000miles today and have no problems. 08 Sierra pretty much identical to yours.

They say a lot of stuff but can't back it up with tests so I wouldn't trust everything they say.

Like they say their ATF is a fine replacement for Dexron VI applications. It is not certified for Dexron VI applications because they claim it's to expensive. I say, maybe they know it can't pass so why waste the money on the testing and get the black mark on their record.
