GPGuy Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 Just curious as to what prompted everyone to buy their very first pick up truck. If you have bought more then one through the years what keeps you buying them and/or coming back? I know that for me it was back in 98 when the 99 body style was just released. The GM plant here where my dad worked got a whole fleet of them for the employees to try so they could show their friends and family to help boost sales on the new trucks. They were gold Z71's and I got to drive this truck a lot when he had it here and just absolutely LOVED driving it! I was too young to have the money to buy one at the time, but from that day forward I told myself that once I had the money to afford one that I would buy one! And here I am and still love driving them just as much as I did back then.
cbxeric Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I volunteered for search and rescue and having a 4x4 truck was a necessity.
RyanbabZ71 Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 So I could do this (haul stuff) when I want and not have to rely on a deliver service or a friend. And so I could get through this white stuff with ease Also hopefully in the near future I will be buying a boat, still looking for onw
gmcgirl Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 I have wanted a truck since I first saw the Chevy 454 back in the early 90s. I finally got my first truck last summer and will NEVER own anything else! I love my truck. With the kids grown up and no longer needing the 'mom van' it was finally my turn to drive what I wanted! Plus, I needed to be able to haul 2 ATV's and it was a good excuse! We also have a cottage and are in the process of building our retirement home (although retirement is still a good 20 years away) Plus I love the feeling of being higher up and bigger than most on the road.

chev1guy Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 It was all because of a 1989 F150. It was the first vehicle I got to drive and off-road in.

s-ten Posted April 25, 2010 Posted April 25, 2010 My first vehicle was a '91 S10 2WD. I wanted a truck, and even though it was not much of a truck it was a truck none the less. The next truck was my current '98 that I got in 2004, I had wanted one of these since I was little. I always loved the 88-98 trucks, and I won't be getting rid of it anytime soon. The reason I have a truck is cars are overall pretty worthless for anything except driving fun and getting good mileage.
