Driveshaft Problems

Would a one piece drive shaft from a 2005ish silverado 1/2 ton crew cab 2wd fit on my 1999 silverado ext cab 2wd with a 2 piece drive shaft. As far as I know, they both have the same wheelbase (143.5). will it wokor not???

 

 

I keep getting a vibration from my 2 piece so i want to instsall a 1 piece...

Have you checked all your u joints and carrier bearing? Have you also had it balanced?

forget the 1 pc dude,take the truck to a driveline shop for an estimate,as mentioned ,maybe a balance or other concern.

Yup...from experience...it doesn't fit.

 

Its too short.

so i took it to a driveline shop here in saskatoon and I was told that the shaft was bent and needed 1 u-joint... 395$ later i still had a vibration. So I took it to a trans shop and they tell me it was not in the rear end or in the trans. even had the tires balanced twice just to make sure. im oficially puzzled!!! i guess you can feel it big time in the back seat! Help me please!

Rotate the wheels, see if the vibration moves. You may have a bent wheel.

Or a bent axle...what did you do to bend the DS...you may have FUBAR'ed the Rear axle too.

The tech at the driveline shop said its quite comon for 3 peice driveshafts to bend at the slip yoke?? Axles are straight because they ran the truck on the hoist and could see that they were straight. The second time they balanced the tires (wich were not out by the way) they rotated the tires. Its still the same after that...they would have told me if a wheel was bent. Could brakes or anything else cause a vibration??

Well...there are a lot of things that can cause vibration....Brakes certainly can be one of them....

 

If its not in the drive line, than it could be your flex plate...or steering components. Have you been off road and slammed the truck pretty hard...maybe hard enough to damage your frame.

 

Also have your alignment checked.
