8.1 Pinging Issues .....

I have had some issues with pinging with the hypertech max energy so a week ago i put it back to factory and still doing it. I read that it can be caused from carbon build up in the combustion chamber. What is the best way to solve this issue? I have used the gm top end cleaner before in my old trucks but not sure if it will do the trick with this truck. And do not want to take any chances on something happening with this truck where this is my daily driver and my work truck in which i do alot long distance towing of 10,000lbs or more. I always run 93 octane for fuel but even that isnt helping any more plus it doesnt seem to have the power it usually does with or with out the tune. Any tips and advice would be great. Btw i now have 167,000 miles on the clock. Thanks in advance

I would run some fuel system cleaner through it. Get like two bottles and fill the tank after you dump them in. Lucas fuel system cleaner or even sea foam would work to.

I have heard good things about Seafoam and I have used Ringfree by Yamaha. I do not know the dangers of using it on an engine with this many miles though. Maybe someone on here could advise.

Definitely run some seafoam, and then a few tanks later run a few bottles of Chevron Techron fuel injector cleaner thru. The Seafoam is a top-end cleaner to help with the carbon, the Techron will help the fuel system.

Ok, I ran the seafoam through the intake and a can through the gas tank and it got alot better but still there so i should prob do another treatment. I also think i may change the plugs and wires to as i have no idea when they were done before from the last owner. I gotta give it to the seafoam though as it made more of a difference than i figured it would!
