100% Natural, Sustainable Fuel

What about whale oil? 100% natural, organic and sustainable and non polluting.

Of course, this is a tongue-in-cheek post about biofuels. I am in favor of any fuel like wvo or wmo but growing food crops for the purpose of fueling engines is nonsense.

 

Corn prices are up because of ethanol production and so is soy for diesel. And for what. Petroleum is being demonized as bad and it is not. There is oodles of petroleum out there and that is the stuff we should be burning. Burning food crops like soy or corn makes no more sense than burning whale oil in our engines.

If you always collect your grass clippings then the lawn will need a lot more fertilization.

 

IMO petroleum should be supplemented with using garbage for fuel, even if making fuel from garbage is not wonderfully efficient you are still killing two birds with one stone making it worthwhile.

If we could get all these crooked politicians and greedy ceos out of office, maybe they would look into hydrogen. We have been putting rockets into space since the 70s with hydrogen, but we can't make grandmas Malibu run down to the grocery store on it? Bull sh*t! Hydrogen is easily made from water and electricity. I read some articles a while back on it. If I remember right you can pulse width the electricity to a certain frequency and it will make gobs of hydrogren with little eletricty use. Im not talking about riding around on hydrogen bombs. Im talking about filling your car with water and everything happening on board. I believe its possible, but not till we get these pocket padding politicians and oil tycoons out of office.

If you understood basic chemistry and physics you would know it takes energy to split the water and that using hydrogen as a fuel is using the hydrogen to STORE energy. The suggestion of filling the car with water then splitting onboard with hydrogen being the fuel source means you believe in perpetual motion.

 

Hydrogen storage in a car works just fine. It is no more volatile than gasoline and if there is a leak it floats upward instead of spreading across the ground like gas or diesel.

 

The main source for hydrogen gas these days is also splitting natural gas with steam and pressure be cause it is cheaper than using electricity so hydrogen is currently still a fossil fuel.

 

The problem with getting true alternative fuels to market is just as much the ignorant public as it is CEOs and politicians.

 

My previous statement about using garbage for fuel is left intentionally vague, you could use it to make gas or diesel or you could burn it for electricity to split water to hydrogen.

Garbage is something we already have too much of, like I said before two birds with one stone.

Biodeiesel I think is great so long as you are recycling like using used cooking oil, when growing for direct conversion to biodeiesel the energy return just is not there.
