Let me resurrect an old thread here.

 

Ready to order BFG All Terrains any good reason to change my mind and get NITTO Terra Grapplers

 

I have always likes the BFG's, and they have given me good mileage in the past, I am only running these for winter and would like something with good snow, slush. and ice performance. So what do you all think, looking for comments from people with experience running these two tires.

 

Looking at 275/70-18 for my stock wheels. Should give me 33"tall 11" wide hopefully no rubbing since I am running a 295/65-18 on a 5" BS wheel now.

My tire dealer told me a typical "off brand" MUD tire will get around 20k miles. He said 35-40 for a WELL MAINTAINED (air pressure/rotation) BRAND NAME Mud tire. I bought the Nitto's for the look, and figured I would find out how long they lasted. It's a new tire design, so no one really knows about mileage. They are much quieter than your typical mud tire. I have the 295/70/17's.

I bought a set of Summit Mud Dawgs for my old suburban that I had and rotated every 5K. I got almost 60K out of them and that was with a bad front wheel bearing and bad ball joints. They worked well in the mud and did pretty descent on the highway.

You will probably think I am crazy but my favorite tire to date for winter months, and I have ran a lot of them including BFG KO's, was my Revo 2's. We had two 2+ feet snows with 40-50mph winds here last year and those tires kicked friggin butt. My other half is pre-dental in indy so I drive terrible I-65 in winter snow and ice storms for 3+ hours and I again loved them. I know they are not meaty and the sidewalls look cookie cutter but I thought they were one of the best tires I have ever sat on.

 

WIth that said, they don't wear fast but they aren't iron either and they are friggin expensive IMO.

 

I have ran the KO's in the winter and they eat up snow but I wasn't a fan of the icey, wet road traction. Other than that they kicked butt.

I'm a huge fan of BFG AT's...especially in the snow.
