Codes P0449 And P0446

Hey everyone. Here's my situation...

My 2006 Silverado W/T (V6) got the check engine light today, so I took it to an independent shop for diagnosis. Here is what was quoted on the invoice:

"P0449 vent solenoid control code stored. Vent solenoid is working. Hooked up smoke machine and commanded vent valve on and off to determine that it's working. Suspect intermittent failure. Valve is soaked with water and there is a TSB that moved valve to different location. Recommend replacing vent valve and relocate per TSB."

They gave me a copy of the TSB (#02-06-04-037H) and I looked over it and the TSB references code P0446. So is my problem electrical (solenoid) or mechanical (valve)? I have done a search on the forum, and quite frankly, I am more confused than before the search. (It's been a long day.) I have seen threads talking about relocating the valve thingy above the tranny...is this really that necessary? My truck sees 15 miles of commuting 5 days a week, that's it. First issue for me with this truck. Well, second if you count the steering shaft clunk.

So what parts an I looking for to fix this and get the light to go off? Thank you for your time.

John,

This post should make everything as clear as mud...lol. Actually it'll tell you just what you need to do to fix your truck and how to save some money doing it.

ok, so the vent valve is the black, cylindrical part that is about 3 inches tall, right? Has one electrical connector, and a tube running up to the charcoal canister, right? That's what is throwing the code?
