I was about to install the zone combo 3.5" kit and im just wondering if I need to get longer shocks? If so what brand and go with shocks for 3" lift?

Thanks

you do not need 3" lift shocks. you are not changing the max overall length requirement of the shock because you are not lifting the truck, you're only adjusting the ride height.

with that said, some upgraded shocks like the bilsteins will help out a bit. just the oem replacements is all you need... you'll bottom out the UCA on the droop stops before you utilize the full length of the 5100s

*** and conversely... if you did get lift shocks they'll likely have a longer compressed length than the oem shocks. but since you're suspension can compress just as far you'l be in danger of blowing these shocks out if you hit a big bump/rut

If you Are adding a larger block in the rear (which I think you are), I would get longer ones. When I had the RC 3" lift taken off my truck, I left the rear 3" block in and the shop said that I needed longer shocks because with the blocks and factory shocks, I didn't have hardly an downtravel. I got pro comp es9000 shocks and they are ok. About $49 a piece.

You can always run shock extensions if your worried about it.

nope, no blocks for the rear.

the 3.5" combo kit is leveling keys for the front and a 1.5" body lift.

shock extenders do nothing for leveling kits other than give you the potential to blow out the shock if the suspension compresses.

i dont understand why no one understands this. cranking the torsion bars does not prevent your suspension from compressing the full amount. although its more unlikely, if it happens (say while offroading) you will damage the shock.

With that being said. I agree. I was not aware that the 3.5" lift was body and keys.

stock shocks are fine. :dunno:

i guess that means you were talking about shock extenders for the rear then in combination with 3" blocks.... in that case, i agree since that would be an application for shock extenders. i thought you were suggesting them for the front :nonod:

I see. I thought it raised the rear with blocks but then again, I never researched the lift :dunno:. Then no, you shouldn't need linger shocks for anything.

I forgot to say that i will change the 2" stock block for a 3" one. For some reason i was more worry about the front then the back....

Sorry about that, but if the front one doesnt need to be replaced the rear one will be fine as well??

if you're only swapping out the 2" block for a 3"... i wouldnt worry about the rear shocks. 1" isn't going to make or break them.

Might want to double check... i think PA makes a 2" body lift for your truck. I'd go that route over the 1.5" Zone.

Also, if you get the Zone kit, dont forget to add the rear bumper brackets.

Well, I know at least on NNBS, you will probably need new shocks with a 3 inch block. The factory is like 1.25" I think, so going up almost 2" is to much for the factory shocks.

fixed

although i think the GMT800 block is 2"....

never measured our GMT900 block, thatd be nice if it is only 1.25".... since i have 2" of rake id remove it to retain ~.75" and be happy. ill have to check that out after work today

sweet, thanks that will save me a bit a money for now

I got everything in the garage and will install the body lift this week-end and do the key and block once I get a puller.
