1st Actual Detail

I'm gettin' ready to do a full detail to my truck...but I got couple of questions.

 

I always wash my truck once a week since its Summer & its warm! I use Meguiar's Gold Class car wash...then I get a big microfiber towel & dry it.Then I vacuum the carpet & the seats. Then I clean in the inside with ArmorAll cleaning wipes and/or detailing wipes.

 

I'm gettin ready to use the Clay Bar kit for the first time, but was wondering after you get done using it, do you wash your truck again with the Car Wash or just wipe it off?

 

I need a buffing real bad on some spots of my truck, but NEVER dealt with that before, I wouldn't mind practicing on someones car though

 

So after the Clay Bay, just wipe it off? & I'm gonna apply Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0.

So use the Clay bar & wipe it off or leave the residue on there, then wash the truck with what?? Then apply the Wax??

I usually use plenty of lube with the clay bar, so when I wipe it off to dry it, there is no residue. Then when I'm done, I do a walk around and a quick wipedown with the detail spray. But I know some people like to was it afterwards too, it's mainly personal preference

I would use a waterless wash after doing the clay. Something like this. Just to make sure everything is off the paint

Turtle Wax Ice liquid is the best "new" wax product I have ever tried! Full sun, shade, getting it on the black plastic; doesn't matter. Wipe it off with a microfiber, and everything shines with no swirls, residue, etc. I love it. (Unsolicited endorsement - strictly personal opinion - do not use product just because I said it's good).

Just got done doing my truck and the wifes Denali....Always use a two bucket hand wash then dry it off, next I follow it up with a good clay bar and make a final wipe of the vehicle before I start any buffing....I like to start out with a cleaner wax and then atleast 2-3 coates of wax....

Meguiar's NXT Tech Wax 2.0. is great stuff...I really like it easy on easy off....if your real picky like I am...I use painters tape and tape off the black plastic aound the truck.
