macguy Posted May 31, 2010 Posted May 31, 2010 I notice the Silverado HD 6.0 has 360 HP, & 380 Torque. Yet the Suburban 3/4 ton, same motor has 352 HP, & 382 Torque. Both have same rpm's. Why the difference?
hdeatsprius Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 The only difference in the 6.0L I remember hearing about was the Vortec Max, which was also the version I believe thats in the Escalades. It had different pistons/higher compression and was recommended to run on 93 octane. Could be a situation similar to that. I have a very similar question. Maybe the good folks in this forum could answer both at once. I have an 07 Silverado HD Classic. It has the 6.0L and I was always wondering why it was only rated at 300 HP. My old Z71 with the 5.3 was 310 HP, and all of the other vehicles I've seen with the 6.0 have higher horsepower numbers. Whats up with that?!?!?!

You have a GenIII 6.0 HD, which is engine code LQ4. I'm referring to the GenIV LY6, which has different HP & torque numbers depending on the application. My question is why and what is different within the LY6 engine code?
jandersinc Posted June 1, 2010 Posted June 1, 2010 I happen to have a 2010 Yukon XL 2500 4x4 with the 352hp 6.0. I wondered what the difference was too, but I have no idea. I sure wanted the 6.2 though, but can't get it in a 2500 and I wanted a 2500.
