Price isn't bad. I do like the black GM model, but not the price! Lol

Sounds like something made out of parts from the plumbing section at Lowes! May have to check it out!

Have you had any experience with these nerf bars? Or is that just a personal opinion? If you read, they are reinforced with an Aluminum rail in the bottom of the tube. Plus they can't rust with the salt used during the Winter here in the Great Lakes State! I hope you never have owned a Tahoe/Yukon/Suburban with the composite ("plastic") running boards.

Do you have the factory running boards on your '07 Tahoe? How are they holding up if so?

 

Do these ABS step bars have nothing but hate? I am just trying to find something that will last as long as we plan on keeping the new beast! And with Michigan Winters I want something that won't rust, with lower maintenance (no Polished SS).

Yeah, you got me on the Tahoe thing! We don't have a HD here; otherwise, I could be comparison-shopping for "Cheap" parts!

my parents have owned suburbans for 20 years and have never really had issues with factory stuff. i have not owned those. no factory anything is blow molded. blow molding is used to make plastic bottles, the process is pretty sloppy as far as consistent thickness and strength. the running boards i have seen that are plastic are generally injection molded, which is a much more versital process that produces solid parts, not hollow parts like blow molding.

 

i would not buy those, if you do, let us know what you think.

 

I have painted steel step bars on my work truck, it has about 90k on it driving around the Wyoming oil fields and they have help up great.

 

 

for background: i worked for a composites company for a while. built all kinds of things out of plastics and fiberglass

i also lived in Michigan for 23 years, some of that in the UP.

Well, I decdied to give them a try! They are "on order", not sure if they have shipped or not yet. I will give some feedback once I get them, and installed. I emailed a few people that have bought them through ebay, and a couple replied saying they really are happpy with them, very sturdy.

 

Where abouts did you live when you were a "Yooper"? My In-Laws are "Trolls" as they live just under the "Mighty Mac" in Mackinaw City.
