Another Stupid Filter/intake Question

i had a post about intakes.. and everyone has there opinion.some hate K&N some love it. ive had k&n on others vehicles, but my question now is why the oil? if the oil is what dirty,s the maf sensor why not just leave it dry like oem or all the other filters/intakes out there..

Whats the oil for??

Is it the help catch dirt because of the thinner or less filter paper?

The oil is needed to expand the cotton gauze element in the KN.

 

I am using an AEM synthetic dry flow filter and love it. Same filtration if not better as factory and better flow.

Gotcha, im gonna try that. i won a $299 k&n intake on ebay for $112

So im going to use there tube a surrounding with your stlye dry filter,

is AEM better or the same as AFE, i bilieve there dry also

Hows north carolina these days... im in pocono area of pa and want the heck out of hear..Always thought NC would be a great place to migrate to, what about new construction/work. I do hvac for a living. really slow hear

Hey Ron as long as the proper amount of oil is used your okay. Its the people that soak the filter with oil that have issues. As for the dry flows I can't say much as I don't have one YET.

10 4, so really its light oil, just enough to be absorbed in the media..

im gonna use this k&n, give it 3-4000 miles and see what the maf looks like,

NC has been good to us. I am in the USMC so I really had no choice......Not to bad for work here unemployment is down and the economy around the bases is really not affected as much as the rest of the state. People and families are always moving so it brings new life to the area more frequent than most others.

 

We are moving to Sacramento next week. Just took the truck and trailer to the county scales today. 12,864 pounds loaded! Should make for a good trip, Wife will be stuck behind me in the car with the Beagle, two kids, and the bearded Dragon for 2,987 miles

i have put about 3k miles on my k+n cold air intake with the k+n filter and im happy with it... i took off the filter a couple days to look at the MAFS and it was spotless... The filter is oiled from the factory though so i know it was perfectly oiled when i put it on
