Ok this happened a week ago but i havent had the time to try and fix my truck with everything else going on.

So I was driving home one night going across an overpass, truck died in motion ~35mph. I put it in neutral, started right back up, went another ~500ft, died again. this time no start.

now the truck cranks but won't turn over. I have 2 things in mind, the known Crank Sensor problem, or a fuel pump.

How do I go about diagnosing this? I'm leaning more towards crank sensor because if the fuel pump went, the truck would start to sputter as it gradually lost fuel press. it didnt, it literally just turned off. I know with 90's BMWs if you take out the rear seat cushioin (to access tank) you can hear the fuel bump buzz a bit when you put the key to the "on" pos.

Is there somewhere I'll be able to hear it from, like underneath the truck or what not?

also, ecu threw no codes, although when i got the truck home, i locked the key in it, which killed the battery in turn probably wiping out any existing codes

Many thanks in advance,

Mike

I bet that it's the ckp sensor as that's very common on 8.1l. I'd at least try it first, it'll go out eventually, anyway.
