Hid's In Stock Headlights?

Recommended Posts

Is it bad to put HID's in stock headlights? I've read before that it's better to have projector headlights then but HID's in them. Just looking for some input. Photos would help to if you all have any?

You are right about what you said. HID's do look better and work more efficiently in projectors. But tons of people on here have put HID's in their stock headlights. Most are very pleased with the results. Try doing s search on here for HID's and you will find tons and tons of pics.

I have the 4300K xenondepot.com low beam kit along with the 4300K kit in the fogs. Both are stock housings and look great.

I've had 5 pairs of HIDs in all my cars throughout the years, all in stock housings. Don't waste your money, put the HIDs in the stockers!

What are you driving?

For HIDs, having a glare cap is very important (you know, the silver dome that covers the tip of the bulb). This makes it so you don't blind on-coming traffic.

Projectors are the best, but there are some other lenses that work great too. For instance, for GMT-400 trucks with factory halogen lights (not the sealed beam), TYC Elegante lenses are amazing. I just put them in with my HIDs.

I would definitely never use HIDs without a glare cap or projectors (but projectors don't usually look very good).

I got mine from DDM Tuning. $30 for larger ballasts/$40 for slim ballasts for 35w or add $10 to each price for 55w.
