Want To Add Nav To My 2010

Hi all, can someone here verify if this nav system will work on my truck. It looks as though it will but I would like to be sure. The GM part # is 25966513. I know there are tons of different part #'s out there. It says it is for the bose system and it has the USB port which I have on my truck. Any help is greatly appreciated!

I only need to say a few words on why Aftermarket is not as good in our Trucks: "OnStar" "Turn Signal Sound" "Door Chime" "Steering Wheel Controls (If so Equipped)" the GMT900 which gmercury2000 and I have is a COMPLETELY Different Animal when it comes to the Audio system than your GMT800.

I only need to say a few words on why Aftermarket is not as good in our Trucks: "OnStar" "Turn Signal Sound" "Door Chime" "Steering Wheel Controls (If so Equipped)" the GMT900 which gmercury2000 and I have is a COMPLETELY Different Animal when it comes to the Audio system than your GMT800.

My understanding is that you'll be able to keep all of the above with an aftermarket system. This is per my local installer who I have known for a while. I'm thinking about upgrading to the Kenwood dnx6960 or the alpine. An aftermarket system imho will blow the factory system away.

Yes, you can keep all functions by purchasing $300 or so of adapters.

However, you won't have all the factory integration and perfect fit and finish the factory unit provides. There's really nothing at all wrong with the factory NAV HU.

Not to mention that if you really want, you can still add in aftermarket speakers and amp(s) for better sound.

Just check the manual which you will receive with the product. I feel it should work with your truck. But as you said there are different system you must check it properly.

I think it will work but not positive.

As for aftermarket, I have been an installer for over 18 years now and while the aftermarket has some very nice products getting everything to work like the factory is almost impossible.

I like all the features that come in my truck and after working on a bunch of trucks and escalades trying to make aftermarket work I'm just leaving the factory in.

I was on the factory bandwagon for a while. Then I wanted to enter addresses while in motion. Couldn't do it with factory nav. I wanted my passenger to be able to watch the dvd while in motion. Couldn't do that with the factory nav. I bought the gmx-322 lockpick to unlock the factory nav and and it worked great but it cost $275. I wanted to stream audio via bluetooth. Couldn't do it with the factory nav. I wanted my ipod integration to be better, I wanted my audio tuning to be better, I wanted the interface to be more modern. I bought the Pioneer AVIC-Z120BT and man what an improvement. The ipod integration is great, I'm able to stream Pandora via A2DP, the interface is modern. Overall, it's a much better unit than the factory unit.

However, this aftermarket unit does have a few flaws. The navigation guidance takes some getting used to. The voice is annoying. I haven't been able to change it yet. The OEM bluetooth VCIM is muuuuucccchhhh better. It didn't fit in the factory radio so I had to cut the brackets in the back to make more room. I had to spend several hundred dollars on adapters to keep OnStar, steering wheel controls, and door chimes. The double din installation ring matches the OEM finish. All of those features work perfectly. In fact all of the factory options work great.

I'm glad I made the switch. However, it was more expensive.

I look at it from the installers side of things usually. I know what it takes to get the aftermarket things to work in these trucks.

I understand the failure rates for the adapters and what has to be modified to get everything stuffed into the dash.

I understand the amount of programming for things like the swi-** and the handsfree/onstar.

I also realize that customers are picky kinda people. After spending a few thousand dollars on a product it should be better then the factory that was replaced.

I had a contract to install aftermarket navi with a caddy dealer. After doing around 40 installs and having various problems we stopped doing them.

Anything that interfaces with the lan29 will usually be blamed for any other problems in the truck. Some dealers will not service any body problems with aftermarket interfaces, so the radio has to be removed and factory reinstalled.

These are some of the problems I have dealt with and so I made the choice to keep my truck factory even when I get everything for free to change it.

I got everything I wanted in my truck but a nav system. I would love to add but after reading thru everything it only sound like it is exspensive and costly and a aftermarket system is the same way and how fast everything changes I think I might just buy a nice gps for a couple hundred bucks and call it a day.It seems like it will just be outdated in a couple years anyway. My buddy just bought the new droid phone and got a mount for the truck and when you plug it in it pops up a screen that looks and runs just like a gps. Technology changes so fast I think its hard to spend a grand on the nav system and all the stuff with it. I could be wrong and I know people have done it. I hope you figure it out would love see some pictures. Good luck

Yes it makes me laughwhen people trade in a perfectly good used low mileage truck to get a few new electronic goodies.My truck is an 08 LTZ and therefor no bluetooth and it does not have nav.For $100 I put in a blueant supertooth 3and for $150 a garmin nuvi 255[which is upgradable].Yesit may not be as clean looking as factory but it works well and was alot cheaper than trading in a perfectly good low mileage truck.I also do not like the position of most factory nav screens as you have too take your eyes off the road too look down at them.Mine has TTS so really no need too look at all,but up on the dash its an easy glance

Thats why I like the factory stuff. It fits perfect and looks good.

That unit requires the Bose amp to function, all you will get out is a very quiet audio, without the Bose amp it's not really usable

It looks like the OP has an LTZ trim, so he has the Bose amp. That part# should work fine as long as it's installed with the proper VCIM harness and VSS connection. Also, don't forget the GPS antenna and Nav DVD. I've been reading these posts about aftermarket vs. factory with great interest...the most compelling argument in favor of keeping it stock for me are all the installers themselves who keep their orginal HU's and recommend factory upgrades to save lots of headaches. They are the one's who would know I guess...
