Will you actually feel any difference with a cold air kit and does it cause and check engine lights to come on without a tune? Ive searched this site and others and just keep finding various answers. I would probably just put the k&n kit on.

I would DEFINITELY save that money for a tune or a tuner. Makes a hell of a lot more difference than a CAI.

just put a k&n CAI on my 2010 5.3 and there was no difference. then i put a magnaflow muffler on and that made a difference. so im not sure if only the exhaust helped or if its a combination of both helping. but theres deffinetley a HP gain with the two on there.

My .02,

I'd buy a tune first too. But if you buy larger or heavier tires then you'll need a CAI to get the power you lost back under throttle. I'm not saying you'll add 20 mph or 100 hp by adding a CAI but you will notice a difference. But it's really up to you.

Let me put it to you this way:

The human body can survive on one lung, so why did God give us two lungs? Because it makes us more efficient that's why.

Think about it.

Been there done that. Best money you can spend is tune. I had a K&N CAI and sold it cause there was no point in keeping it. It makes your engine noise louder cause there are no noise reducers in the straight tube. For better flow of air, i drilled large holes in the bottom of my stock airbox all around it, put a K&N flter in it and it flows more air than needed. Total cost for that mod is just the filter! Air flow is insane if you do the hole-cut method....just ask Justin from Blackbear. When he read my data info from my stock engine with my cut-out mod, he asked me what i had done to the intake, or how it was pulling that much air. Was quite shocked to find out it was only holes!
