I Want To Put In A Screen For The Hvac Inlet

I have to park my truck under a large pine tree and I can tell that pine needles and pine stamens are going to get past the stock plastic HVAC intake grill at the base of the windshield. I'm worried that they will mess up the heating/cooling coils because I noticed an incredible pile of debris on my previous Dodge truck when the same HVAC cover was removed during a windshield replacement.

Has anybody else done this? Is there an aftermarket solution? I was thinking about removing the existing plastic grill and gluing or securing a piece of fiberglass window screen to the back side. I can see my Corvette already has a screen just like that from the factory. I can't figure out why GM didn't do it on the trucks.
