How did you spend labor day weekend?

Well, after the three day weekend it was back to school for me yesterday and work today.

 

So, what did everyone do for labor day weekend?  Go anywhere cool, do anything fun?

 

I ended up staying around the house mostly and going out w/ friends.  On monday though, we did cook up six racks of ribs.  I should've eaten more because they were devoured by the time I got home yesterday.

fished and drank (good combo)

 

Also took a tractor apart (to use the engine and front suspension).

 

Painted a shed

 

Drove a boat

 

Watched a parade (grand marshalls were  a dozen NYFD which was pretty cool they all went through the wtc attack )

 

Came home (hauled a tractor home)

 

Now it is back to the grind

Nothing different about Labor Day than any other day around home, still had plenty of stuff to do, but instead of going full bore all day we went about 80%.

 

Chores.

 

Fixed some fence.

 

Checked crops.

 

Did some other assorted cattle work, like putting in feed.

Fished a tournament with my wife up in Maine, we beat the snot out of the locals and came in below the top 10 out of 40  

Came back home and spent $6K on furniture and a new engine for the truck

I had to work.

 

My son crawled for the first time though!

I didn't do much.  Played 9 holes and sucked it up bad, had a couple of beers later.   Just enjoyed the time off.

I didn't do a darn thing.  Just relaxed a bit and cleaned up the inside of my truck.  Nothing too exciting...

Relaxed. Enjoyed the last day of my week and a half vacation.

 B-B Qued some steaks with my wife and some friends. Ran out of propane half way through    :angry:   (why does'nt this happen when your just cooking hot dogs?) ???

Had a couple Bloody Marys.

Went house hunting, went to several open houses, test drove my wife's dream car, and made an offer on a used house.

My son crawled for the first time though!  

Congrats! My daughter started last week too. Now she's sittin up by herself and last night started pulling herself up to stuff. I never thought someday I would think that stuff would be so cool.  

 

I started vacation Sunday so far the days have just kinda blended in together. Got a lot of stuff done around here got the wife's car cleaned up tuesday.

I know what you mean!  It is so awesome to watch them learn something that we take for granted.

I went camping from August 23rd through September 3.  Finally getting back out to the board's after catching up at work.   I rode my horse, finally got to enjoy my camper on the two rainy days we had, played with my new doberman puppy "Ozzy, drank a bunch of Becks/Heinekens and Bud's (had to do Bud when I ran out of the good stuff), ate a ton of great food and slept like a baby for 10 days.  Had a great time!
