Hello i have on order an 03' sierra,, i had ordered it with an in-dash single cd player.  My dealer tells me yesterday that there was an increase of around $200.00 dollars on my order(i was pretty ticked off) i asked why and he said that he doesn't really know,,,, but he thinks that gm ran out of the single in-dash cd players and has to install a 6-disc cd changer!!!!     my question is ,, can i dispute this in anyway????  my truck if on schedule is to be built on Sept 12th,,, can i change my order to just a regular am/fm radio??? since i will put an aftermarket radio in later....  thanks to all who help.

Read the order form, any contract to buy and all of the other paperwork that you have.

It should spell out all obligations of both the seller and buyer.

Not you again RapidRide, what is going on. Your truck buying experience has not been an easy one has it. I am pretty sure, that you only have two options, 1) Take the truck as is, maybe you can find someone to buy this radio from you when you are ready to put in your stereo, 2) Cancel your order and re-order the truck. The dealer can't make you take the truck, since you didn't want the changer. The only other thing you might try is asking the dealer to swap the radio with another one he has in stock. I know my Dad refuses to do this, because it gets way to confusing with changing costs and prices on the vehicles, then the window stickers don't match etc. If you email me your vin number I might be able to have someone take a look and see what they have included. You have my email.

Thats BS if they try to swing this on you.

Have you purchased the truck?

Did you sign the paperwork?

You should have a list of what you ordered with your sig on it. If it didnt include that radio your under no obligation to pay for it.

If all looks ok from your end, tell them you dont want that radio and arent going to pay for it.

Tell them to pay or cancell your order.

Rapid, my experience when I ordered my current '99 is that once you have a biuld date, it's too late to change - I squeaked under the wire changing mine from 2WD to 4WD by 3 days.

mcali has a pretty good idea there, also, if you didn't really bargain hard to get the price down before ordering, or you're not on the employee/family/supplier purchase program, you might just try levelling w/ the dealer and get them to split the cost or drop it - I KNOW they have that much latitude, especially if you're not getting a large discount up front.  I'd talk level-headed, but firm w/ the sales manager and "remind" them that you're trying to develop a long-term relationship, both sales and service, and they need to bend some too.

That's my 2 cents and good luck!  :flag:

he thinks that gm ran out of the single in-dash cd players and has to install a 6-disc cd changer!!!!

That sounds fishy.  Of all the things to run out of.  My theory is when he was entering it in the computer he put the wrong thing by accident possibly.

I had a similar situation of a price increase after i ordered my truck.  2 days after the order the destination price went up $25 (not a lot of money i know).  $665 to $680 (my truck was bilt less than 30 miles from the dealership also).  TO make a long story short the dealership paid the difference  :flag:

Good luck to you but stand your ground and dont budge.

He had emailed me becuase my Dad is a GMC dealer and he wanted to know about the rebates for 2003 Sierra (see post). So, if you look, I posted the rebate info a couple of hours before it was posted on this website. I had also emailed it to him directly. He emailed me back last night to say thank you and that he couldn't believe it, but the dealer called him and his truck is in. Four weeks from order to delivery. The only thing I can think of is the dealer had one scheduled to be built for inventory and caught it in time to make the changes that RapidRide2 wanted. I am sure he will give us the story if he ever gets back to this topic. But he did say that it had the regular radio and not the changer.

Mcali is right,,, the dealer had told me my truck was to be built on Sept 12th  i thought i was going to have troubles with the radio situation,, i had called him yesterday and he said it was too late to delete anything on my order,,, an hour later he called me and said my truck was here,,, i about crapped my pants!  went and looked at it and they had to charge me extra because i ordered the towing package and it had to come with the 255's which was okay with me.  Radio option was fine.  thanks to all who commented,,, I had read earlier this month that gm was kicking out these trucks alot faster because of some changes,,, the trucwas shipped aug22nd and ordered on the 7th of aug  4 weeks is quick

GM is finally doing something smart. They added back the third shift at the plant, I think in Ohio, to increase production. They say they did not have to "hire" anyone, they just took back workers that were on "layoff" status. It still seems like there may be some shortages though. The word around the industry is that GM diverted alot of frames and 6.0L engines so that they could build the new H2. So don't be suprised if some trucks take a long time to be built.   ???

went and looked at it and they had to charge me extra because i ordered the towing package

Look at it as a positive.  Trans cooler.  I think that is well worth the $250 even if you dont tow  :flag:
