Should I Buy This 08 Z71 With A 3" Rc Lift?

I need some advise from you guys. I'm in the market for a 4x4 and a 08 GMC SLE1 Z71 CC with 40k has caught my eye. It has the Rough Country 3" with upper control arms, 315/70r17 BFG AT KOs, pipes and a Hayes trailer brake system. The front air dam is missing and it looks like the tires rub sometimes. I drove it around the parking lot (NO GAS IN THE TANK!) and the front end clunks when turned hard into a bump which makes me think bushings and/or ball joints. Also when parked, the inside front suspension will compress a couple of inches when the steering is at full lock. The dealership that is selling it puts lifts on their new trucks and the guy said he could have their suspension dude check it over. The truck looks to be in really good shape but should I stay clear of it or have them fix the issues and try and get it for dirt cheap?

Thanks!

Eaux

Some people have said that 3in Rc is not good on the truck. Some guys take off the front bottom air dam when they level. Nice lookin truck. I dont know if I would buy one with a rc lift already but I would highly recomend you test drive it and take it to a different mechanic and pay 50 bucks to check everything over. Its well worth on a used truck cause there could be problems they wont tell you and you can tell. Thats just my .02 cents on buying any used truck. Goodluck.

The lift is total junk and the ball joints are likely shot. I would press them to fix any issues with the lift and go for a rock bottom price. Then I would pull the RC off the truck, sell it for some change, and then look into other lift options.

if it were me i'd steer clear. like Blackout said the lift is junk. also those tires are entirely too large for that kit. that, coupled with the 3" RC kit, indicates to me that the previous owner liked to get absolutely the most bang for his buck, even if it meant sacrificing quality. just my .02, you may very well purchase it and have no problems. good luck with your decision.

i wouldnt jump to any conclusions about the previous owner so quickly. its very possible that he had the best intentions when buying the 3" RC.. and, as we've seen from recent members' experiences here, could have been misled about the tire fitment by the installing shop.

only a very small fraction of owners frequent websites like this....

so i agree with matt... have it looked over really good, get damaged parts replaced and then buy it for the right price. then take the RC kit off.

I have had 0 problems with the 3" RC lift on my 09 to date.

Its been on for 9 months and 12000 miles.

Damn, there are a bunch of wheel weights on the passenger front in the first picture. I agree with everyone else. Just buy the truck then take the RC kit off and buy something better.
