Drive Selector Is Getting Very Dim

VERY common problem with the clusters on the GMT-800s, either the gear indicator and/or odometer will go kablooey. Only solution is to have it rebuilt/repaired, or replaced. Nothing you can fix yourself in most cases.

Any idea of how difficult it is to remove/replace?...cost of new part(s)?...what dealer would charge? Thanks much! Mc

2004 2500 hd gas. the prndl is getting so dim it is hard to see.any ideas?

There was a recall out to replace instrument cluster free of charge for those who are under 75,000 miles I think. If over that, they just charge you for the labor last I heard from a GM dealer who replaced my instrument cluster last Summer.

Yeah I think that may have ended. When they did mine in 07 they told me the recall was nearly at the end of it's time limit.

Certainly worth checking into.
