Dealer cash??

I just found out today from my dealer today while finishing up some last minute paperwork on my new 03' sierra that they offered me $500.00 dealer cash back,, this seemed kind of odd to me (couldn't figure they would be that honest)  I also was under the impression that they DID NOT  have to pass any of the dealer cash on to me. He said it just came in today???                                                                                    Was it my lucky day? or was he just being nice?

The answer is yes it was your lucky day and yes the dealer was being nice!!!

Dealer cash is money that GM gives their dealers to help them have a little more leeway when selling a vehicle.  It is their money, and they do not have to pass it on to the buyer.  Just like the 3% "hold-back" that is on every new vehicle sold.

When I bought my truck, I was wanting a 1500HD and had found one on another lot.  My dealer was unable to trade for it.  He checked his invoice lists and saw that my truck was in transit and asked if I would be interested in the identical truck except in a 2500HD.  I told him that it would be about $1000 more and I wasn't sure I could swing it.  He told me that he had $500 in dealer cash being offered to him from GM on that truck, and said he would throw it in on the deal to split the difference.  It was a no brainer for me to get the 2500HD instead... for just $500 more.

Did he mention anything about $1,000 back? Notice this part below, "customer cash of $1,000". I wonder if he pocketed half of the money due you?  I could be wrong.

In a nutshell, it's a "rebate" to the dealer if he sells the vehicle.  He can transfer the money to you or keep it himself...  sorry I wasn't more to the point in the previous reply...

I am checking to find out if this dealer is on the level. My sources say this is highly unusual for him to just give you the dealer cash, it is like giving up profit. Now, customer cash is a different thing and that does exist as well. He may be b.s.ing you and it may have really been customer cash, that he is required to give you, and he is making himself look like a good guy. If GM gave him customer cash and he didn't tell you about it and tried to keep it, he could be in trouble if GM ever came in and audited, and they do that from time to time. I will let you know what I find out.

Thanks a million Mike,,, He did present himself as the good guy  I asked him if the savings was just at that dealer and he did reply it started for this month only and was at ALL southern region dealers,,,,  like the saying goes   "there is something about someone who wants to give something away"       Def. Keep me posted  Thanks again

You can check at Edmunds or Kelly Blue Book and they should tell you if there is any regional dealer cash available on that model of truck.  I think on one of those sites, it also explains what "dealer cash" is and it says that it can be transferred to the buyer if the dealer wants to do it.

I checked into the dealer cash thing. My sources say it is possible but he still finds it very hard to believe. I really have no way to confirm this is the case. The only other possibility, is the deal was written wrong from the start, and they offered this "dealer cash" as a way to correct their mistake and make themselves the good guy. Although anything is possible. The way I look at it, you just say thank you and enjoy your truck.

Mcali, your right i plan on enjoying the truck when i hopefully pick it up on Wed of this week.   What you said makes me wonder  heres the deal      i special ordered the truck with p/255 blackwall tires my salesman told me that all gmc's came with the 255's,, I also ordered the tow package which says it requires the 255 tires... my dealer says the manf. said that they did not specify tires,, which they did not,,,because the order form said "vehicle not complete"  My dealer is trying to charge me for the 255 series tire which is like $145 g.m.s.  However on 2003 window stickers say "no charge for a 255 series BLACKWALL" tire.  I thought it was a cost option only for the 255 white letter tire?  I wonder if they seen thir screwup and offered the $500.00?   Anyways this is geting very interesting ,, i am about to get a 2003 sierra w/ chrome pkg, cruise, 5.3/auto 3.73 lim slip tailer pkg., tow pkg, tint windows cd player for $22,900!!!  p.s. i thought tires were standard equipment lol and if no charge for the 255's ,, why am i getting charged?  I'll investigate this week i guess.

    • Fred was in the fertilized egg business. He had several hundred young pullets, and ten roosters to fertilize the eggs He kept records, and any rooster not performing went into the soup pot and was replaced. This took a lot of time, so he bought some tiny bells and attached them to his roosters. Each bell had a different tone, so he could tell from a distance, which rooster was performing. Now, he could sit on the porch and fill out an efficiency report by just listening to the bells. Fred's favourite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasing pullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming, would run for cover. To Fred's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring. He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. Fred was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the City Show and he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the "No Bell Piece Prize," but they also awarded him the "Pulletsurprise" as well. Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making. Who else but a politician could figure out how to win two of the most coveted awards on our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the unsuspecting populace and screwing them when they weren't paying attention. Vote carefully in the next election, you can't always hear the bells.
    • Can someone confirm if the GM order workbench terminal is able to validate a custom build sequence:   1) Initialize the Allocation Base: Open a new vehicle build queue, select the 2026 Chevrolet Suburban 4WD, and pick the High Country (3LZ Preferred Equipment Group).   2) Select the Diesel Powertrain: Go directly to the engine configuration screen and choose RPO code LZ0 (3.0L Duramax Turbo-Diesel). Ensure it maps to the MHS 10-speed automatic transmission.   3) Deploy the Seating Swap: Navigate to the Interior Options screen and enter RPO code ATT to replace the standard captain's chairs with the power-release 60/40 bench seat. Because you are not trying to force a separate luxury or air-suspension bundle, the standard, premium D07 Fixed Floor Console remains active. The system will accept this change immediately without triggering a warning message.   3)Apply Heavy-Duty Hauling Capability: Input RPO code NHT (Max Trailering Package). The commercial terminal will automatically bundle the required trailering hardware and software modules to support the diesel engine's maximum towing capacity.   5) Layer the Premium Tech and Glass: Separately add code C3U (Panoramic Power Sunroof) and code UKL (Super Cruise) to the order screen.   6) Run the Final Validation: Click the "Validate Order" button at the bottom of the interface.
    • Spent the last hour or 2 googling and reading up on the spacer thing. I don't like the loss of thread contact on the slip on spacers, but it appears you can get "extended" lug nuts that reach into the hole of the wheel to get back the lost threads. Looks like the only true hubcentric slip on spacers are at least .375". I'd want as little as I could get away with and don't want to cause other clearance issues going any thicker. Bora seems to offer what appears to be a well made .375" spacer and extended lug nuts. I searched here and did find a couple threads recommending Bora. But not cheap. By the time I buy spacers and lugs, new TPMS sensors, then pay a tire shop to install the new sensors, I suspect I'm going to be in over $400. Thinking about running out and getting some washers to put behind the wheel to see if .375" is enough to clear calipers, turn lock to lock without rubbing, and to see if the wheels/tires look strange pushed out a little. This would just be to check fitment.
    • Roadmaster makes some quality parts; I have their sway bar. I considered the RAS, but I ended up bagging. I didn't know what kind of ride I'd get with RAS, and the bags have interior jounce bumpers, so I can run 0 pounds pressure. I figured I'd have the best of normal suspension ride with assist on-demand. But it seems you got pretty much the same in one item.
