That is a good reason to pull it down evey now and then and inspect it. That way you will have it if you ever need it. It is also important to make sure it even comes down.

Looks like there is several pounds of crap and gravel under your truck.  You ever wash that thing?

Mine was the same way when I pulled it down.  Just to find that the tire had come off the bead...... :angry:  I ground it down and sprayed primer on the wheel, after taking off a 1/16 of an inch of rust.  Still a good rim though.

Nope, haven't had that problem since one spare stays here, the other in the nose of the trailer.
