I’m looking at buying one of these if I can get the price down a bit:

I was reading that Ford has a load of problems with its 6 speed smart transmission. The tranny is supposed to learn the way you drive but it’s a flaming retard and gets it all wrong. Seems they have to re-flash the computer all the time which would be a disaster once it’s out of warranty.

 

So, do either of the transmissions used in the Sierra 1500 have something similar to the so call smart function in the Ford or are they straightforward transmissions with none of the nanny BS?

 

Also, is the throttle in the GMC fly by wire?

OK, thanks, I guess there's no getting away from electronic crap - I like to drive vehicles for 20 years and not have to change much except basic consumables plus maybe rads, starters, alternators etc all of which I can do myself.

Yes, the new 6-spds employ "adaptive learning algorithms". To my knowledge, every make of 6-spd auto does this (Toyota, Ford, GM, etc...).

...The trans need to go through a "learning" stage. It will adapt to your driving style. Give it some time if you havent already. Sounds crazy but its true.

 

So is it correct that the 4 speed trans does not have the learning technology ?

The 4 Speed has it as well and all of the trucks out there, no matter what make or model have torque management nannies in them.

The 2011 Mustang GT 6 speed manual transmission is made in China. How can it possibly have problems?
