Anyone order a new Sierra SLE 2500 gas'r? Dealer gave me a "supplyer" pricing for $41,000...I need to get to $38,000 or so...any tips on bringing him down on the price?

I'd go down to 36K, does not hurt to lowball they will give their absolute best maybe you can negotiate from there. Also keep in mind the incentives they are offering that month too may take the price down further than MSRP.

BEAR..........Both the GM employee and supplier prices are non negotiable in most cases

unless the dealer wants to get into hold back. But that usually won't happen !

Heck........The GM employee deal is only $2700 off MSRP plus a measly $1250 EVA

(employee vehicle allowance) then minus rebates !

This is on a $41,xxx MSRP truck.

That sure sucks since GM changed the program a couple of years back.

You used to be able to score at least $5000 off MSRP on a GMS employee truck deal plus

any other bonus like GM loyalty another $5000 then big rebates on top of that !

Sadly the "new GM" did away with the big cash off deals !

I offered $37,500 and said I am ready to come in and order the truck. Of course I got the line "this is the best offer...you are getting a steal on this truck"....

they are offering $24k for my trade (Tundra) which is more than some others so I suspect there is part of the issue too. I suggested that he had $5k or so of holdback and the dealer said no more like $1500-$2,000 in holdback so either they are starting to get into the holdback with their offer OR they want it all and are not willing to budge...at least not yet.

GM's latest rebate is $2,000 cash back...they discontinued the $1,000 cash back offer for Toyota owners which sucks.

I can buy a Silverado a little cheaper BUT they are not giving me much more than $21,000 for my trade. I may try to sell the tundra on my own...maybe I will have more negotiating power, but I know the dealer still has room to give and still make some profit...if they want my business.

For a 4x4 Crew Cab SLE 2500, no options added on top of the SLE package...USAA is quoting me a price of $37,347 (showing a $38,097 invoice)...They're usually in the ballpark of what you could get with proper haggling.

But you didn't say if you wanted a CC or an Ex cab, or if you wanted 4x4.

2wd Ex-cab SLE is coming in at $32,083.

Well you have 3 strikes against you to start.....................

1. I note you said the evil ORDER word ! That dealer ain't gonna bend too much

on price if possible at all because the truck you want is not sitting on the lot eating

into the holdback money and mounting floorplan interest costs.

2. Your trading in a toyo which a Chevy dealer will possibly have a hard time selling

because a toyo shopper is gonna shop a toyo dealer first. Some dealers in that

position will usually wholesale it off.

3. Because you are already getting the usually non-negotiable SUPPLIER price and

its a flat commission from GM so there isn't much if any wiggle room.

Heck............When I trade a 3 yo GM 2500 for a new GM using the GMS employee

deal thats on the lot they want to give me dead flat wholesale for my trade !

But I know better!

BTW: That holdback on that truck is less than $1000 bucks.

Did they show you the factory/dealer invoice? It plainly shows Invoice price,

GMS price, Supplier price, advertising charge and if you look carefully the Holdback

amt. also.

EDIT: You said order...so there will be no invoice you could see in advance

to see that info.

Well...I may have just sold my Tundra tonight...My local chevy dealer has a truck with all the options I want (he has to go get it from another dealer), but it is Black...not my first choice but is in my top 3 choices of color. I would think I would have more buying power taking the Tundra out of the deal and getting closer to my offer and putting more cash down....

NAH............Dealer could care less about cash money ! They get that fat "bird dog" fee

from using certain banks/finance companies along with making $$ points selling you a

higher interest rate that they "buy".

As far as taking your truck outta the deal they could usually care less because again its a

SUPPLIER deal and a flat commission sale so they want to buy your truck LOW and sell

it HIGH and make their big ca$h on that end of the deal.

They don't like to do those dealer swaps for a supplier deal either so it seems they WANT

to do business and move a unit!

BLACK? Its one HOT color but a PIA to keep nice ! My first choice everytime as I am on my

8th black GM truck!

Chevy dealer has found tw0 Taupe Grey Metallic Silverado's: all have what I want EXCEPT:

One truck has 17" wheels- I wanted 18"

One truck has 125 amp alternator- I wanted 165 amp. Do I need 165 for pulling a camper?

On truck is Black and has everything I wanted, but I don't know if black is my first choice of color

All of them are around $40-$41k

I didn't realize the 120A alternator was standard on the 2500HD. The 1500 gets a 145A alternator standard. I can't imagine needing much power to charge the batteries and maybe run a 12V fridge on a camper. 120A @ 12V is 1440 watts. If needed, you can swap for a 160 amp later... but I seriously doubt you'll need it (I have never noticed *anything* w/ the 145A unit on my 1500).

Edit: And, yes... I tow a camper. The fridge is gas/or/120V, so I'm only charging batteries and powering tail/hazard lights when traveling.

just tell them you shopped around and dealer B is offering a lower price

dare them to match it or you walk away

if your prepared to lie to them because they lie to you, you can get what you want

Well I am coming back to GM! I ordered a 2011 Sierra 2500 HD yesterday. I made my final offer at $40k and $24k for the Tundra trade-in...dealer came back at $40,200 and $24k and it was a deal. MSRP on the truck I built was $43,159.00; dealer invoice $40,806. The best the Chevy dealer offered was $41k/$21,500.

I ordered the SLE crew cab, standard bed; Gas'r, 4x4, Midnight blue metallic with ebony interior; 4.10 rear end with locking differential; Z85 suspension package; 18" polished aluminum rims with AT black wall tires; SLE preference package; skid plate package; heated camper mirrors; HD trailering package; 5th wiring provisions package; 160 amp alternator (no snow plow package); fogs; 6" chromed assist steps. I'll add the mud flaps and under seat storage when it comes in and have a Line-X bed liner sprayed later. Pretty excited should be here in 6-8 weeks. I will post pics when it comes in....thanks for everyone's input!

Does anyone know if you can get the wood grain accents for the SLE through any aftermarket retailer?
