Components Or Coaxials?

I'm replacing the factory speakers in the Tahoe. They are all pretty much trashed. I putting coaxials in the rear doors, but not quite sure what to do with the front. I'm not trying to build a competition system here. I plan to keep the factory HU. I know there are seperates in there now, but what I don't know is if the mids are filtered.

 

In othere words, if I just put coax's in there and bypass the stock tweeters, will the highs be filtered out?

Are you running the factory HU? Did you bypass the factory amp?

Coaxles if your not going to use an aftermarket amp

The factory mids are actually playing fullpass and are not filtered. If you get a component set the crossover that comes with the set will roll the mids off right were the tweeter starts playing however there will be nothing to stop the lower frequencies which can cause distortion at higher volumes unless you use an aftermarket amp with a built in adjustable crossover.

Well, I bit the bullet and ordered a 8" Kicker CompCVT to replace the factory sub and ordered some Kenwood coaxials for the front and rear doors. I'm just going to bypass the stck tweeters.

 

I might replace the speakers in the rear pillars later on too...just depends on how it sounds. Like I said, I'm not looking for a competition system; I just want to have a decent sounding stereo to listen to.

 

Anyone know what size speakers are in the rear pillars?

Not sure on the tweeter size is but why not just use the tweets that are already there sense your not wanting a competion system. They would be just fine and wouldnt rob too much power from the coaxles. Alot of competion systems use extra tweeters in the pillars to raise the soundstage.
