Steering Wheeling Rubbing Feeling At Slow Speeds

From reading through multiple posts I still can't find a solution to my steering problem. I have a 2005 4x4 z71 and that nasty rubbing sound/feeling coming from what seems to be right beneath the steering wheel when turning at slow speeds. Any idea of how to fix this? Thanks, your input would be much appreciated.

There is a bearing that the steering shaft goes thru. Green is the newer updated part.

Intermediate shaft

Power steering pump.

I changed out all my power steering fluid and went with Lucas PS fluid. Difference was night and day. no binding and now smooth turning.

That bearing issue makes sense to me - thank! Does anyone have a set of basic instructions for me to replace it myself?

There is a TSB for what this sounds like. There is a rubber bushing at the firewall that the steering shaft rides in. The fix is to change the bushing and posibly shim the bottom of the column to better the fit thru the bushing.

I found my copy. The # is 06-02-35-003C. This states for years 07-09. I hope this helps.

Thanks but there is only a rubber sleeve on my 2005 firewall and I greased it right up as well as installed the newer green column bearing - which did nothing to help. I did however disconnect my ISS from the lower input shaft and then put a screwdriver through the lower input shaft and with the truck running I turned the steering to the left - and I could feel the rubbing sensation but not as amplified as it was at the steering wheel when driving at slow speeds and turning - btw, yes I tied off the steering wheel before disconnecting anything. So now I'm half thinking it might be my pump or the steering box - so I may try replacing the power steering fluid first and see if the rubbing goes away or of any of the slight squealling when turning faster.

Any other suggestions? I read that one fellow had to change his clock-spring to get rid of the rubbing/grinding felling at the steering wheel  I'm determined to find out what's going on here one part at a time :sigh:
