I'm thinking about getting my windows tinted.  My buddy has his done and they look good.  The guy who did it, worked at some place that tinted windows so he knows what he's doing.  He said $75 for the two side windows and one back(I have a regular cab hd).  Does this sound like a good price?

Texas's legal limit is infact 35%, and feel free to quote me on that.  I payed exactly 75$ for the front window tints on my car by a company called MoonShadow (Here in Dallas, TX).  They did a moderate job, but not great.  They do however have a lifetime warenty on all their tinting.  Hope that helps.

That seems like a good price.  It is around $100 plus tax to do a truck like that around here.  Make sure that they use tint with metal in it, though instead of ink.  The ink fades to purple over time, whereas the metal does not (supposedly).

That's not too bad actually.  Here in New York, you cannot put anything on the front windows, but F 'em.  The guy quoted me a price of 149 plus tax to do all 5 windows, back 3 limo'd out.  85 to do just the front 2 equal to the back 3.  Still considering it.

PA has laws about tinting too...  I can't remember what the door windows are allowed to be but I think it is around 12%.

My buddy just bought a new excab HD and paid $149 to have 35% on the rear and excab windows and 20% on the doors, so I think everybody is in the ball park as far as pricing goes.

When I had my '97 tinted, I went with a brand called AutoLux instead of the 3M tint because I was told the 3M tint would fade to purple.  Well, that has been about 5 years ago now.  Although the tint hasn't turned to purple, it has faded.  I had a Texas A&M University sticker on the back window and when I removed it to put my Association of Former Students sticker on the window you could still see the words from the sticker darker in the tint where the tint around the sticker had faded.  That has been over a year now and you can still see the words in the tint.  I too had a lifetime warranty on the tint from the place that installed it but that place went out of business so now I am pretty much out of luck.  I keep forgetting about it but I am going to try to call the company and see what they can do about it.

Just my 2 cents.

3M now has metallized tint film under the "Scotchtint" name.

I believe all MSC, Solargard, and Llumar tints are metallized.

Everything else is likely dyed and will fade/discolor.

Look specifically for a fading/discoloration guarantee.
