Need Last Minute Reassurance!

I'm ready to commit, but needed some input from some of the seasoned veterans on this forum. I have an 09 1500 with the 5.3L/4-speed/3.73's. I'm planning on going with the BDS 6-inch HC lift, 35" Trail Grapplers, black XD Monsters, TrueTrac, and gears...on those I can't decide yet (4.56 or 4.88) I plan on doing everything at once to let it be done with. Once everything is done I'd like to find a reputable tuner since I already have an exhaust and CAI. Daily driver, no towing, and moderate offroading. What gears and what do ya think? Thanks...

But I recently went through the same decision with my 08. 5.3 4 speed w 3.73 gears I got the BDS 6" Zone 1.5 35" Mickey T's and couldn't decide to get 4.56 or 4.88 gears. I saw where several with 4.56 wish they would have gotten 4.88 and like Matt pointed out, no one with 4.88 wish they had gone with 4.56 so I got Yukon 4.88 and true trac and couldn't be happier with the gears.

I can't speak from experience, but everything I have read points to 4.88's. That is what I plan to go with at some point.

You might as well get the short gears either will work for 35s but with 4.88s you can run 37s later.

I'm curious about the gearing as well, 2010 silverado 6.2 litre with the 6 speed. bds 6" lift with 35" nittos its gonna be mainly used between the city and back country dirt roads with the odd highway trips, rarely towing anything and im not going any bigger then 35's just wondering what gears would be best?

Civilguy, since you have the 6 speed and 6.2 I can't give any advice but ask Matt if he doesn't chime in on this thread cause he's the resident genius when it comes to this stuff.

I was talking with Matt about my truck. 2010 5.3 6 speed.

He recomends 4:30 for me and my setup... Im sure with you having the 6.2 He would recomend 4:11...

Check with Matt, Im sure he would be more than happy to help

Texas football is the only sport that I watch anymore, other than UFC, and I wish that Texas played LSU. Maybe one day when your truck "grows up" a little more and it finally develops its CV's, YOU can join a real team fan base.

I bought my gears locally but I believe most of the guys get theirs from Rons Machining Service.

Blackbear Tune is by far the favorite and most highly suggested on this site.

I don't have the Blackbear yet so I can't say but this forum and others will overwhelmingly say BLACKBEAR for the tune FTW

Found a great deal for gears/true trac at Ron's and will order this weekend. thanks again for all the input and all that's left is placing orders, get everything to my installer dude, and finish it off with a blackbear tune.
