Hi.  I'm wondering how the new Bose system sounds in the new 2003 models.  I looked at a 2003 Tahoe the other day, and the subwoofer is no longer located in the sidewall of the cargo area.  Anybody know where it now resides?

If Bose is an option on any new vehicle, your better off NOT checking it.

Go for a regular radio and spend your hard earned money on a better/cheaper aftermarket system!

From what I understand, the Bose system comes standard with front row bucket seats.  There is no choice.

I am still wondering where the subwoofer is located in this new system.

Unless you get the system with 7 speakers then there isn't a sub in the trucks.  I know the GMC trucks have the sub but on my 03 chev HD there isn't a sub with the indash 6disk/bose system.

Has anyone seen the sub in any new Silverado?  None of the dealers have.  Only if its a SUV they say. Not sure if they know or not, but I dont know anyone personally thats seen anything but the door speakers in the crew cabs and the tweets in the roof support molding.

FYI,

The Silverado/Sierras DO NOT come with Subwoofers included in a Bose package... I work for GM in Pontiac, MI on these trucks and they dont have subwoofers as options...  What you get are speakers that, upon visual inspection, have significantly larger magnets and they fit in the same slots on the C/K15753 models... As for the SUV's, I can't say for sure what you get...

My 2003 2500HD did come with the bose system, and yes there is a sub. There is also a amp. What amperage I don't know. From what i understand the amp & the sub are located in the center console. Seeing them i have not, But i do hear the sub.

But i do hear the sub.

that sucks, if you are hearing the sub, then they must not have put a lot of thought into designing the system.  In a good setup the low mid and high frequencies would seem together flawlessly, and you would not be able to "hear" the sub

I think he just meant hearing low bass.

oogabooga you are correct. There is a low base fill you can hear, and it is in no way over powering.

I listened to a 03 HD 2500 with the Bose system and 6 disc in dash and it does feel like theres either some bass from a sub, or the door speakers are putting out some decent low frequencys, but it needs more like a couple 10 inch bazookas or something like those sub boxes that fit specific for vehicle.

Anyone know of anything good for behind the Rear seat in a 2500 HD Crew Cab?

The new Bose system is a required option if you have fron bucket seats, regardless of which model truck or suv you get.

The "subwoofer", from what I was told, is actually two 5" drivers in an enclosure inside the center console.  You can hear the bass notes decently, but they aren't even close to what an aftermarket subwoofer will do.

I am planning on getting a JL Audio 8" subwoofer installed in my Yukon in the driver's side rear compartment in the cargo area.  The same place where the stock sub was located on the 2003 models.
