Running... 89 Octane As Opposed To 87 Octane

Recommended Posts

Any Pro's/Con's to this? Been running 89 in mine so just kinda curious since I know most of you guys know alot more than I do or at least I hope so.

No benefit unless tuned for it...

I heard running a tank of E85 will help keep the fuel system clean. I think its 110 octane

where'd you hear that?

can you fill us in on why higher octane will keep the fuel system clean???

He's probably referring to ethanol being such a good solvent. The reason you'll see 'hiccups' when you convert an old engine over to even 10% ethanol. This is talking point #6 for the ethanol haters! :D

Nothing to do with octane rating, though. :D
