Towed My "toy" This Weekend

Well, this past weekend I towed my "toy" around 300 miles, and it did fantastic!!! I was really impressed with the 6spd, it pulled from a stop much better than my old GMT-800. I also like the back-up camera. It really came in handy when hooking up my car hauler and backing up at night. I really like my new truck and glad I made the purchase.

I now need my first oil change. Should I go full synthetic or wait till my next oil change? My odometer reads 2892

The Monte is my first car, I had it since high school. It has a 427ci small block with nitrous... its fast enough for me! lol It runs 9.70's... I took it to Pinks All Out in Houston this past weekend, but I didn't get picked.

I always change my new vehicles' oil at 500 miles. I do it for my bikes as well. I break in hard, change at 500, then again at 3k, then usually 5k after that with synthetics. Me personally, I would change your oil now and if you want switch to synthetic. It won't hurt anything.

If you are going synthetic, do it now. i did mine at 2500 and again at 5000. Now i do it on the 5's.

Agreed, no need to wait on synthetics. The sooner you use them, the sooner you get the benefits.

So the majority saying use synthetics now, so that's what I'm going to do. Thanks guys!

I agree about the Synthetic oil. I changed mine at 500 mile and started using Mobil 1 oil and filter. After that I change it every 4,000 miles.

i was told to wait for using synthetic untill its broken in. apparently if its not completley broken in the synthetic wont let it break the rest of the way in. i dont know. just what i was told...

Funny, but Corvettes and the Caddy CTS-V get Mobil-1 as the factory fill. For the Corvette, they only say to watch RPM's for the first 500 miles then you can drive it hard. No first time early oil change either.

 

I did a first oil change on my 08 Silverado with the 6.0L motor at 1000 (was free at the dealership) and then drove another 1000 miles and changes to Mobil-1 and Mobil-1 filter. I change oil and filter now at 5K intervals.

I switched mine at 500 and 1000 miles, then from then on, followed the oil life meter for oil changes.
