GM doesn't offer a painted one that I am aware of. I smoothed and painted mine. Looks a TON better.

I took mine off and smoothed it. It took a couple of days to get it smooth, primed, painted... but it was worth it! It would be nearly impossible to do on the truck.

I checked into painted door handles and I can get those to match the color of my truck (graystone) but GM does not offer a matching tailgate handle. So I would have to paint it. Zembonez is right, the best way to paint it is to remove it from the truck.

I recommend using Filler Primer too

Its crazy to me that you can get the handles for the doors but not the tailgate. they should offer those as well

hmm my dad is going to have his GMC logo painted, but might have to add this to the list as well

Good point. It takes a bit of sanding and filling to get these nice and smooth.

Never understood why GM doesn't do that. They do the handles and mirror covers, but not the tailgates

 

That does look awesome. I may have to attempt that for my new truck.
