According to 'TrailerLife':

Year Make Model Engine Tow Limit

1991 Chevrolet/GMC V2500 Suburban (4WD) 5.7 V-8 7500

Maximum gross trailer weight includes passengers and cargo in the tow vehicle plus any cargo in the trailer. The additional weight must be subtracted from the maximum tow rating.

Thanks for the link. Hmmm This might just work for a temporary vehicle until I find the truck I want....

Maybe, you never know. I have always like to older body styles. My main concern if I did keep it long term would be the seats... Wonder if they make replacements... Man don't get me thinking... My wife would kill me.. lol...

your best bet for replacement seats is looking through any local wrecker or pick-a-part yard .. just don't be a hurry... and when you do find a nice clean set of seats you can bring them home and change them out at a convenient time...

as long as the body and frame are not rusted out on these classic trucks, then it is hard to find a truck more reliable and low-cost to maintain...

Going to look and posibly buy it tomorrow. From the photos it does not seem to have much rust on the body at all. Owner said he is the second owner, his grandfather was the first. Has 183K miles, no rebuilds, so I am probably lookat at have both the engine and the transmission rebuilt if I keep it long term. Did these trucks have the 4L60 transmission in them?

I think the 4x4 2500 suburban will have the transmission one grade up from the 4L60 ... in 1991 was that the 4L80 ... ???

When to look at the 'burb today... well lets just say the owner was less than honest in his description of the vehicle. "Just a little bit of rust arounf the fenders" turned out to be some of what he described, but also ha 1.5 foot by 5" body piece missing from the lower portioin of the bard door opening. Ran ok, neede exause work. Also "Clean interior and every thing wokrs 100%" apparently means total pig sty inside, a broken drivers seat being held up by a piece of wood wedged between the seat and the floor, head liner held up by staples.... good lord why can't people just be honest when they talk about a vehicle for sale. What a waste of 3 hours (Round Trip)....
