Lost Remote...

So... my daughter went to check the mail with my truck keys... AND LEFT THEM STUCK IN THE MAILBOX !!! So whoever has them knows where I live and has a remote to my truck with an ignition key. How do I change the code so that it no longer works... dealer programming I assume... and can my backup remote be reprogrammed as well?

Are you saying she dropped em in a USPS bluebox? Just find out what station it goes to and ask for the keys or driver who would have done the pick up that day.

the remote is easy, when you program in remotes to the truck you must reprogram all remotes at that time or they are removed. now the key, I'm not sure. The key will unlock the door and ignition regardless, but it may be possible to have that key removed from the PassKey system so that it will no longer start the truck.

I think he means the kind of mailbox that some neighborhoods and apartment complexes have. A bank of 20 or 30 individually locked boxes. It's easy to forget the key in there.

<<<<Done it

I'd check with the office if you live in an apartment.

Can't really answer your question though. Never been through this one.

I got ya. Just left em hanging there, right. Yeah I would flip out a little.

Like they said as far as the remote, its not a big deal, whenever the program your new one it will wipe the old one out. now the key is a different story, you will have to have the ignition and door lock cylinders recoded and a new key cut. Your probable looking at around 375-500 dollars to do it all, new cylinders, new key and new remote.
