Are These Projector Headlights?

Quick question everyone. I seen a topic the other day on here about HID's and the use of Projector headlights to properly spread the light for oncoming drivers so did a quick internet search and come onto these Headlights. They seem reasonable and I like how they look pretty much stock as well. Are these 'Projectors' and would these work nicely for HID's in the low beams?

Link for Spec-D Tuning's Website: http://www.specdtuning.com/2lh-siv03-ks.html

Looks like you can also get a kit with all four front headlights, but assume this is just so the headlights all would match each other, and I can't find the link or website of the place that carried them at the moment but will keep looking.

If these would work for HID's I would consider them, and then I wonder since they are "Legal in all 50 states" if they are aimed right, they would be legal correct? Thanks for the help in advance, I don't know to much about these!

looks like a halogen to me. the best way to tell is by looking at the eye so the speak. a projector looks like this

but you gotta make sure you get something with an hid projector, as a halogen projector will work even worse than a non projector halogen housing.

Those are projector lenses and better than just reflectors I guess. However I've yet to see an aftermarket projector housing meant to house an HID setup. Everyone I've seen is meant for a halogen bulb. If you put an HID bulb in, you change the optics or the projector, sort of like changing a prescription on a pair of glasses. Unfortunately, the only way I've found to put a projector in vehicle that didn't come that way from the factory is to retrofit one in.

these are projectors for your truck: but as iminaguagmire stated they are ment for halogens, however HIDs will work with them and not cause nearly the blinding effect that a reflector housing does.. just need to aim them correctly.. thing about projectors is that even if they are for halogen, they still include a block off plate (usually) that limits the upper light spread which is what causes the glare blinding other drivers.

Thanks for the reply. To bad they wouldn't work out well for HID's. It was on that pages 'projectors' but from what i read on here, they are expensive so didn't figure they were. Thanks!

Spec Tuning also makes these, but aren't these just an 'Angel Eyes' version, and not really projectors either?

if you notice the projector on these are on the high beam not the low beam, the low beam is still a reflector..

compare to the ones I posted, where the low beam has the projector..

This should help (I wrote it):

problem is the rear of the housing (projector) touches the frame of the truck causing a bad grounding issue

nice write-up..

as for the grounding issue, go to home depot and get a rubber plumbing cap for the housing, you should be able to find one that fits, it will seal the light and protect it from grounding..

Thanks guys. I will have to read up more on this when i am at home. I am at work now looking quickly, but my truck is on 03 and i believe those lights posted were for a 99-02 style headlight. Sounds more complicated then i thought! I would like HID's but do not want to blind people, but don't want to spend tons of money on it either. I currently have the high 6 mod and will drive my truck more this winter so need to run a wire to turn off the fogs when on the highway then flip them back on, on the gravel roads, but haven't looked to see where i can drill through and bring the wire in. I will look at the pictures better tonight and reply. Thanks

nope, there is way too much out back...i will try to post photos later to show what I am referring to. Lots of metal out back.....I am thinking that I may just put some high temp rubberized or high temp silicone to prevent grounding.

wanna do it on the cheap. go to ebay, buy some cheap halogen projector headlights for your truck. make sure it has the projector lens like the picture i posted. go to a scrap yard, find a lexus or mercedes or any high end car with an hid projector in it but with a broken headlight housing, get two of those and youll usually get them cheap and often times with the ballast aswell, then do a retrofit into the cheapy ebay headlight with the hid projector. thats the cheapest way to do it. and id imagine would be possible for under 300 if youre resourceful, and you can gett he bulb from the scrap yard too as itll bein the headlight. that would be the cheapest way to do it if i were to do a retrofit :D

Looks like I have alot of reading to do this winter! To know as much about this as possible, then to decide which route to go and options I have. Will look into what you said! Thanks
