Why Are The Silverados

I was just wondering why the front ends of the silverados sit so low in the first place. They look so much better with the leveling kit so why not have that stock?

Personally, I do not like the look of a truck with a leveling kit in it. When you load it up, it looks like the tail is dragging the ground, and you have the affect of the lights actually shining up in the air, and not on the road.

They sit low in the front from the factory for good handling with a heavy load in the back. You level a truck put a heavy load in the back where the front is toward the sky and it handles like crap.I never haul anything with mine, so right now my front is a tad higher than my rear, because I have shackles and the torsion bars lowered a little.

I actually think the opposite, why are they so high from the factory?

Why is what so high??? These trucks are without question the lowest trucks compared to the other makes. Ford, Dodge, Titan, and tundra are ALL higher and bigger

The front ends don't sit lower than the rears from the factory (maybe minimally). If you follow the body lines you will notice that the rear fenders are cut higher making it appear that the fronts are low. I think all the leveling kits only make the truck look front high. They do it to make it "look" level when towing.

???

They sit higher in the rear because the real leaf packs are designed to carry a load. I realize these are cars to most of you but they were designed to be trucks. I guess this is a normal question as they become more and more just four door sissy trucks with tiny beds...

I beg to differ... the rear of my truck clearly sits 2" higher than the front. If i put a level on my bed rails, it is not level.

However...my truck sits perfectly level with about 350 lbs in the bed :rollin:

no there is no question that the trucks sit low in the front. Theres no need to follow the body lines, just get your tape measure out.

Every lift kit comes with a lift thats 2.5" or more higher in the front to level the truck.

Yeah, that is true. But I had a 2006 Silverado and my V-Max from the factory was way higher than my 2006 Silverado.

Yeah, and where are you measuring to with your tape measure?

No Sh*t the leaf pack are designed to carry a load. The rear wheel wells are cut higher though. The truck may not be perfectly level but it's so you can carry a load and it's level or close to level. Funny how the level kit guys jumped all over my post.

Who says the bedrails are a good indication of level?

Take a look at my pics. It's quite obvious.

Put a level on the bed rails or the door moulding with the truck on level ground and you'll see that the front is lower.

Mine is about 2" off front/rear. This happens to coincide with the fender measurements.... the rear fenders aren't just "cut higher" IMO (yes, when my truck was "level" with the weight in my bed, all 4 fenders measured the same height and my bed rails & moulding were level)
